Last week, I was grabbing coffee with a few friends who are building apps using AI. They aren’t traditional developers, they’re founders, designers, and creators who use tools like Claude Code and Codex to turn ideas into working software fast. But they hit a wall. One had accidentally leaked an API key. Another’s app crashed because of a missing database rule.
They knew something was wrong, but they didn’t know how to fix it or what to look for.
Explaining “technical debt” or “row-level security” to someone who just wants their app to work is tough. They don’t need a lecture on cybersecurity theory; they need a checklist. They need to know if their project is safe to show the world or if it’s a ticking time bomb.
That’s why I wrote this guide.
This isn’t for senior engineers who already have CI/CD pipelines and security teams. This is for vibe developers, people who build with AI, move fast, and want to ship without sleeping with one eye open. It’s for anyone who has ever typed a prompt, gotten code back, and wondered, “Is this actually safe?”
We’ve rounded up the best tools and guides available right now, from pre-push QA checkers like VibeAudit to ruthless repo auditors like Brutal Rep Auditor. We’ll help you decide when to hit that “publish” button and when to step back and fix the holes first.
Because shipping is exciting. But shipping a broken, insecure mess is a nightmare you don’t need. Let’s make sure your vibe-coded projects are built on substance, not just luck.
1- Vibe Codebase Audit
Vibe Codebase Audit is an open-source project that helps you stop the nightmare before it starts. It automatically scans for leaked API keys, exposed file paths, and hidden vulnerabilities you’d otherwise miss.
Ship with confidence, knowing your private data stays private. It’s the safety net every vibe coder desperately needs but rarely admits to wanting.
2- Security Audit from Cloudflare
This is a free open-source coding-agent skill from Cloudflare, that orchestrates isolated agents through reconnaissance, coverage-led hunting, candidate validation, structured output, independent record verification, and target-neutral reporting. Since it was released few months ago, it gets 30k+ stars on Github.
It works on 6 phases:
- Reconnaissance: map architecture, trust boundaries, input surfaces, prior evidence, and deterministic coverage in
architecture.mdandcoverage-ledger.json. - Coverage-led hunting: assign isolated hunters from ledger units, record their checks, and use coverage critics to find gaps.
- Candidate validation: give every unique candidate to a fresh verifier that tries to disprove it.
- Structured output: write
confirmed,needs_validation, andrejectedrecords tofindings.jsonand validate them againstreport-schema.json. - Independent record verification: fresh agents verify final source claims. Material replacements receive another independent verifier.
- Target-neutral reporting: derive
REPORT.md,FINDINGS-DETAIL.md, andNEEDS-VALIDATION.mdfrom the verified records and coverage ledger.
3- Kapus SecuAudit
This is another skill for Codex and Claude Code that examines your vibe-coded app for security risks, finds the holes, scores them, and fixes them, with your approval, of course.
We have written a quick review about it in the following post.
